Alumni - also members of the Alumni Association - do not have SMTP access, i. e. to send emails either webmail or the SMTP server of the respective ISP (i. e. e. g. mgate.chello.at or smtp.a1.net etc.) has to be used. Please note that port 25 will mostly not work from foreign networks - ask your provider if port 465 or 587 is also supported!
If port 25 is blocked (which is likely) and your provider does not support port 465 or 587, special (free) SMTP services can be used.
The SMTP servers of the big providers (Google Mail, Outlook.com, WEB.DE, …) meanwhile mostly change the sender address or only allow the "internal" sender address, so we recommend to use webmail.
